Seattle might not be immortal like the great eternal cities of the Old World, but every city has a chance to set its own course through history and reach greatness. Seattle is doing that now through a wide variety of contributions to modern frontiers such as aerospace and technology. Similarly, our people are now revolutionizing the way a sport is understood in this country. Our love of Seattle comes pouring out of the stands and on to the field as we support our team through sheer force of passion.

From narrow streets to vast, sparkling stadia, soccer is loved the world over. In 1994 the world’s game came to its quadrennial apex in America. Now our imaginations run wild with the thrilling possibilities that make this sport so unique from the rest.

Unbridled joy and crushing sorrow are part of the fandom of South America, where believers make offerings to the gods in the name of their club. While we likely think of ourselves as quite worldly and knowledgeable of other cultures, there exist places where our comprehension of passion and support seems rudimentary. This understanding cannot be bottled and reproduced. It must be lived by the people.

Where these forces of passion and pride meet, you’ll find us. With eyes only for this greatest of places and hearts surrendered to a world’s team of our own, we know we will never be the same. Thus, we feel the Fúria Imortal. It’s inside us and always has been. You’ve just got to recognize it.
